when you run the current win32 Fb2.1 beta 2 installer
(Firebird-2.1.0.16780_0_Win32.exe) while you have a
Firebird instance already running, and you select any
other language than English, right after clicking OK
in the language select dialog you get:

"Runtime error (at 60:959):

Format '%1 ' invalid or incompatible with argument"

(note the blank after '%1' ??)

When you choose English language you get the correct message:

"An existing Firebird 2.1 Server is alread running.
You must close..." etc.

(when you _don't_ have another instance running, it
works as expected - at least in German, others not
checked).

For what it is worth the i18n stuff for the installer is not up-to-date. This is intentional and I half considered turning it off completely for beta 2.

The problem is that maintaining the i18n stuff requires the i18n maintainers to be on the ball when it comes to preparing for a release. In fact they are not consistently available to keep the actual released versions up-to-date, never mind our beta releases.

There is also the problem that the original english text can change quite a bit as we move through alpha and beta phases. I'd rather use contributors time wisely than get them to try and resync for every alpha or beta release we do. After all, they maintain the translations for 1.5 and 2.0 as well.

Anyway, once we go to RC I will ask the i18n maintainers to check through their files and bring them into line..
