I run Firebird on Windows as application using Firebird Guardian. After Explorer crash/restart tray icon of FB Guardian disappears.
To reproduce: run Firebird + FB Guardian as application, run i.e. Process Explorer (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/processexplorer.mspx), restart explorer.exe process.
Workaround: register "TaskbarCreated" message, re-create icon when message received:
