Linux startup script silently exits when missing 'main' executable [CORE1880] #2312

Almost all startup scripts for linux (they differ for different distros) contain approximately same check:

#⁠ Check the file is there and is executable.
[ -x $GUARDIAN ] || exit 0

It means that instead of reporting error in case of missing guardian, we silently exit with success return code. All this checks should be removed.

Test for presence of guardian is removed except SUSE - it already returns non-zero return code (==5), may be it's processed by OS.

If someone can confirm SUSE behavior in case of missinf guardian, leave a comment here please.
