Right now, there is no protection to the embedded database.

A password protection for embedded firebird database is highly needed.

Best regards,

It was discussed many times in appropriate lists.
I see nothing critical here and recommend to lower ticket priority.

James, what do you mean under password protection here?
If you talk about encryption of database with key, known to application, this makes sense and is planned for the future. What about login/password pair, it makes absolutely no sense for embedded access.

Hi

I can not understand why "What about login/password pair, it makes absolutely no sense for embedded access. "

Microsoft ACCESS database has user/password protection. Some other databases also has user/password protection.

Thank you very much,

James

It was discussed many times. With _open source_ database any user who has direct access to database file can copy it, bring to other host and open with special firebird version, from which password check is removed (remember, it's open source, therefore building such version is trivial).
