cannot install Firebird on OSX Lion 10.7.3 [CORE3796] #4139

I've done a fresh install of OSX Lion 10.7.3 from an usb drive (downloaded from mac app store)
Trying to install Firebird 2.5.1 (26351) - all versions - hangs up with this error:
'Install Failed' UI displayed message:'Il seguente passaggio di installazione non è riuscito: run preinstall script for Firebird Database. Contatta il produttore del software per ottenere assistenza.'.
(The following install step failed: run preinstall script for Firebird Database. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)

I've tryed with CS 64bit, CS lipo 64bit, SS 64bit, SS lipo 64bit, CS 32bit and SS32bit, all gives the same error

There is just one small problem, the preinstall script only does this:

#⁠!/bin/sh
#⁠
#⁠ Script args:
#⁠ $0: full path to script
#⁠ $1: full path to top level package dir, no trailing slash
#⁠ $2: full path to installed location
#⁠ $3: ????? Path to install Volume????
#⁠ $4: ?????
exit 0

You can find it in the .pkg file under the directory Contents/Resources.

i tried again to install, checking the file as you noted.
At first the install failed, this time showing me an error in post install script. Looking ad install.log (which i attach again, with new details), it appears that there are some bad format packages.
I unzipped the file with The Unarchiver (v3), so i downloaded the .zip again, this time unzipping it with osx default decompressor, and now everything installed without problem.

So it appears there is some issue with unzipping with The Unarchiver.

Package "FirebirdSS-2.5.1-26351-x86_64.pkg" is using a deprecated archive format. Running in compatibility mode.
Is a known issue. The installer needs to be rewritten at some point. However although the format is deprecated, its does work.
