Include bitness in fbclient.dll properties

Created: 09/Feb/13 10:27 PM   Updated: 11/Feb/13 05:38 PM
Component/s: API / Client Library
Affects Version/s: 3.0 Initial, 2.1.5, 2.5.2
Fix Version/s: None

Environment: Windows, all versions since we started supporting 64-bit, 32-bit and 64-bit platforms. Probably other platforms too. I think MacOSX takes care of this problem.

 Description  « Hide
In the property sheet of fbclient.dll and fbembed.dll, there is no way to tell whether the library is 32-bit or 64-bit. There are several reasons why it is important for a troubleshooter or an end-user to be able to get this information. The Windows property sheet has two fields 'File Version' and 'Product Version' that currently hold identical data, viz., the build number. I suggest 'File Version' could be used to designate the bitness.

Determining bitness of all the binaries is a problem, not just for the DLLs. Perhaps the bitness should be added to the properties of all binaries.

Rather than the File Version, I would suggest that the 'File Description' or 'Product Name' would be more suitable.
