Systemd (http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/) is now the default system startup daemon for at least Fedora since Fedora 15, Mageia since Mageia 2, openSUSE since openSUSE 12.1, Arch Linux since October 2012 and would be for next RHEL.

Fedora package have scripts ready for Firebird 2.5, we should have them to our install script
Fedora scripts are here : http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/firebird.git/tree/
firebird-superclassic.service, f firebird-superserver.service, firebird-classic.socket, firebird-classic@.service
Note : xinetd is nor more needed for classic
