Firebird Core

Allow Firebird Service to be started as automatically (delayed) in Windows (starting at Vista)

Created: 11/Aug/14 09:17 AM   Updated: 08/Dec/14 08:05 AM
Component/s: Guardian
Affects Version/s: None
Fix Version/s: None

Environment: Windows 8, VS2012

 Description  « Hide
Since Vista, services can be set as "automatically delayed" for the start type (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms685155%28v=vs.85%29.aspx).

It would be nice if the Control Panel Applet could allow us to start the service delayed because on a developer machine you don't need the service directly at boot. So it can be started with a delay to improve boot performance.

The Service Start Mode can already be set via the Windows Services window/function. I do not see it being necessary to change the "Control Panel Applet"

but most users don't know this, so a checkbox to start firebird delayed in the control panel would be nice.
