Duplicates CORE749

Maximum length (= 31) for names (constraint names, index names, tablenames, fieldnames, .......) is too short.

The limitation of only 31 positions in a name is very frustating. When is Firebird going do change this limitation to unlimited positions ? Thanks.

"Unlimited" is impossible. Something like 128 characters is more realistic.

Unlimited is maybe impossible. From 31 characters to 128 characters would be great help. Any idea if or when this improvement will be released in Firebird ?

Hopefully, in the next version (4.0).

When will version 4.0 go live ? In 2016 (Q1 - Q2 - Q3 - Q4) or 2017 (Q1 - Q2 - Q3 - Q4) ?

I cannot say for sure, it's in the planning stage. 2017 is more realistic.
