InterBase (and Firebird by inheritance) doesn't check
validity conditions when they're added. The result is
a database if then backed up, can't be restored.
There should be a GBAK option for restoring data
without regard to any constraint, thus salvaging the
data.

Correct me if I?m wrong: -no_validity option doesnt restore checks at all. It should be an option to restore database to pre-backup state, that is, _with_ checks, and field values even they dont pass the checks.
