.NET Data provider

GdsConnection.Connect() should not always call TryEnableLoopbackFastPath

Created: 19/Mar/17 11:27 PM   Updated: 20/Mar/17 06:06 AM
Component/s: ADO.NET Provider
Affects Version/s: 5.8.0.0
Fix Version/s: None

Environment: WIndows 7, .Net 4.5

 Description  « Hide
Loopback fast path only works when connecting to the same computer. This is rarely going to be the case. It also never works on Windows 7 or below. Not only is it a waste of time to try, but the resulting SocketException will trigger a break into the debugger if it is set to always break on these types of exceptions. This is very annoying for developers using the ADO provider.

The debugger will break, only if it's set up to break on first chance exceptions. And in that case it will break on a lot of other places as well, obviously. Else the exception is handled and the code continues just fine.
