In several places in the Firebird 2.1 documentation, it states that:
If a member of the built-in Domain Admins group connects to Firebird using trusted authentication, he/she will be connected as SYSDBA.
This is actually incorrect/incomplete, as BOTH Local Admins on the server where Firebird is running and Domain Admins are mapped to SYSDBA when using trusted authentication. This is a subtle but important point for those of us that administer Firebird databases at a customer's site, where we obviously won't have Domain Admin rights.
