The documentation of EXECUTE BLOCK in v.2.0 and 2.1 release notes does not make it obvious that an all-new verb had been added to the DML lexicon. It is a significant change, given that Firebird had only 5 DML verbs, right up to the EXECUTE BLOCK implementation.
The Language Reference Updates for 2.0 et seq. deal with it adequately.
