The current Maven artifact naming with an artifact per Java version is cumbersome, and may make discoverability of artifacts harder.
Consider switching to a single artifact name (org.firebirdsql.jdbc:jaybird) with a version per target Java version (eg <version>.java8, or maybe <version>.jre8 to match the convention used by com.microsoft.sqlserver:mssql-jdbc and (partially) by org.postgresql:postgresql).
This would also require a change to jdp-2019-02.
If implemented, this change should either happen before 4.0.0 final, or wait until 5.0.0
